How to draw a straight line Adjust line length and angle Horizontal Snapping Vertical Snapping Line-to-Line Snapping Template Snapping

Want to draw clean, professional-looking lines without the need for manual adjustments?

In this article, we’ll explore the Smart Straight Line feature that's currently available in the Note, Document and Calendar apps, designed to enhance your note-taking and annotating experience by allowing for precise line drawing.

Whether sketching diagrams, creating tables, or organizing thoughts, this intelligent tool automatically perfects every line—so you can focus on ideas, not adjustments.

How to draw a straight line

To get started, simply draw a relatively straight stroke. Hold your pen still for one second and it will automatically convert into a standard straight line.

Adjust line length and angle

Once your straight line is created, you can easily adjust its length and angle by dragging the end point of the line to reposition it anywhere on the current page.

Horizontal Snapping

When you drag the end point close to a horizontal angle (within 3°), the line will snap into a perfectly horizontal position. This makes aligning your notes/annotations easier and more visually appealing.

Vertical Snapping

Similarly, vertical snapping helps maintain alignment. As you drag the endpoint near a vertical position (within 3°), the line will snap into a vertical straight line, ensuring your notes are structured and neat.

Line-to-Line Snapping

When you drag the end point of a straight line close to any existing line, it will automatically snap to that line, providing precise alignment and enhancing the overall look of your notes.

Template Snapping

Finally, the template snapping feature makes it easier to adhere to predefined layouts. As you drag the end point near a point or line on a template, it will snap into place, ensuring that your notes fit seamlessly within the template guidelines.

The Smart Straight Line feature is a powerful tool for creating organized and visually appealing notes. With automatic conversion, adjustable lengths, various snapping functionalities, and template support, you can enhance your note-taking experience and maintain a high level of precision. Happy note-taking!
