Customize the Toolbar in Your Notebooks and Documents
Table of Contents
You can now personalize the toolbars in your notebooks and documents to fit your workflow. You can decide which tools appear, how many are shown, and the order they appear in.
In the following steps, we will use the vertical toolbar on the left side of the screen in the Note app as an example. (Note: The process is identical for the Floating Toolbar.)
Open toolbar settings
- Open a notebook or document.
- Tap the Settings icon
at the bottom of the toolbar. - Tap Preferences.

Select the toolbar to customize
- Tap Main Toolbar, as explained earlier.

Remove unwanted tools
- Under the Primary Tools section, tap any icon you want to remove.
- The icon is removed from the left toolbar immediately and moves to the Removed from Primary Tools section at the bottom.

Add new tools
- Tap Add More Tools to browse available options.
- Tap the arrow next to a category to expand it (e.g., Insert, Plugins, Page, Note, and Settings).
- Tap the plus icon
next to a tool to add it to the left toolbar.

Note: The docked main toolbar can hold up to 20 tools. If you have 17 tools or fewer, empty space will remain at the bottom of the toolbar.

Restore removed tools
- Navigate to the Removed from Primary Tools section to view the tools you removed from the toolbar.
- If you change your mind, simply tap the specific icons to add them back instantly.

Reorder your tools
- In the Primary Tools section, tap and hold any icon, then drag it to adjust its position.
- Place your most-used tools in the position that feels most natural and comfortable to reach.

Save or reset
- Tap Done to save your new layout.
- If you aren't satisfied, tap Restore Defaults to revert to the original state, or tap Cancel to discard changes.
