What is DMS? When will DMS be used? Will DMS invade user privacy? Why deploy a new DMS in the United States? How does DMS work now?

What is DMS?

DMS stands for “Device Management Server.” It is designed to provide value-added services for your device, including online system updates, access to the Supernote App Store (featuring InkFlow, Atelier, and VirtualNetworkDisk), and cloud synchronization. When you use these services, the system verifies your device’s serial number to confirm it was sold through legitimate channels.

When will DMS be used?

Your device will only connect to a DMS server when you actively use a service that requires it, such as checking for system updates or accessing the Supernote App Store.

Will DMS invade user privacy?

DMS is used only when you access the fore-mentioned value-added services. You can rest assured that your privacy is fully protected.

Why deploy a new DMS in the United States?

We found that users outside of China will experience a slow internet connection when they attempt to connect their devices to the current DMS in China. Also the internet service providers (ISP) in some countries are not compatible with network in China, and users in those countries cannot update their system online. Therefore, we have planned to deploy a new DMS specifically for users outside of China.

How does DMS work now?

We have simplified the setup by removing the manual DMS selection option. Now, you only need to select your country or region in your device settings. The system will automatically determine the optimal service server based on your location and seamlessly connect your device to the China server or the US server.
